Sometime ago were approached by a fourth-year BA (Hons) Film student at Edinburgh Napier University, asking for some help about her forthcoming film
The film, Guttin’ Quines, is set in a fishing village on the East Coast of Scotland in the 1920s. Jeannie, daughter of a farming family and more recently the wife of a fisherman, takes up fish gutting work at her local harbour in an attempt to find a community in her small town and fill her days whilst her husband is at sea. However, it doesn’t go as smoothly as Jeannie would hope, finding it difficult to befriend the women and finding the work even harder. The days go on, the conflicts grow and then news begins to spread of a missing fishing boat…not giving any more of the storyline away.
are working alongside the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther to help provide us with props however there are some other props that we are trying to source.
One prop we are struggling to source is a trough that our gutting quines would pick up the fish they gutted from.
No problem to our guys at DadsWork SCIO Men’s Shed who were right on task to help out and were able to construct this huge gutting trough. This was constructed to meet their needs and it was collected to be taken to the filming location in Pittenweem.
We were only too delighted to help out. Here are these props in action on the film set.
We are delighted with how they looked.
